Silo blocks- added by Brewery- are used in the process of drying crops. They come in two variants, wooden and copper. The difference between these two is completely aesthetics only.
Obtaining[]
Wooden silos can be crafted with 9 of any wood type planks, including most modded ones. This recipe will give you 2 silos per craft.
The copper recipe requires you to take a wooden silo, use a Sentry Armor Trim smithing template, and a copper ingot. This only gives you a return of 1.
Drying[]
In order to dry crops you need either wheat, barley, or corn. Once you have one of these crops in your hand, you can right-click the silo block to insert them into the inventory of the silo. After some time, dried crops will be made and can be retrieved by right-clicking the silo with an empty hand to open the hatch on the front. If the hatch is closed, dried crops will not instantly drop onto the ground. If the silo is open, as soon as the crops finish drying they will turn into item form and drop in front of the silo.
Multi-block[]
The silo is a multiblock machine; this means that multiple of these blocks can be placed next to each other in order to increase the capacity of the silo. This allows more efficient drying since a complete silo will always take 10 seconds to dry its whole inventory. Each block of silo added to the multiblock machine adds 1 capacity. Silos must always have an area of a full rectangular prism or cube. The minimum size for a silo is 1x1x1, the maximum size is 3x9x3 (9 blocks tall).
Once you have dried crops, you may wonder what you can do with them.
